Our experience
Lead-ER's founder is Vicky Roberts. She has an atypical blend of skills, starting her career as an employment lawyer who has worked for both an international law firm and in-house for a FTSE 250 company with 50,000 employees.
For over a decade, Vicky led the learning and development arm of a niche employment law firm, comprising a team of 10 learning and development professionals across a range of backgrounds - legal and ER, leadership and management development. In that time, Vicky delivered projects to develop managers' people management capabilities. Here are some examples:
A large, multi-site retailer: "Help us shift our ER culture."
Recognising the pace at which managers in Retail operate, we designed a series of short modules that focused on informal management and provided techniques that were used by ER as coaching tools.
Over 250 managers attended the programme over a 9-month period.
The ER team reported a reduction in informal issues and greater manager confidence in their 'right to manage'.
The managers still use the tools to this day.
A large estate agency business proud of its 'work hard, play hard' vibe:
"Make preventing harassment relevant to our people & environment."
We created a scenario-led workshop for managers to build their confidence and skill to nip situations in the bud and demonstrate ownership of a respectful, inclusive yet still fun-filled culture.
Over 300 managers attended the programme. Leaders reported issues being reported by team members sooner, and managed in a more constructive way.
An international R&D and manufacturing business: "Develop our leaders to become confident people managers."
Leaders were not confident to manage informally because they did not understand the relationship between informal management and the formal policy and the legal framework.
We created a multi-module programme that dovetailed with existing leadership development and began with a Mock Employment Tribunal in which the delegates participated as representatives or judge.
The HR team saw a reduction in ER issues that required formal intervention.
