sexhal harass zero tolerance stops speak up

The challenge:

" 'Zero tolerance' is stopping people speaking up! "

Our solution:

The intent/harm matrix

We discovered that the barrier was a fear that dismissal was the automatic outcome when a complaint was raised.

We reframed 'zero tolerance' as 'zero harm' - and took senior leaders through the intent/harm matrix to identify the range of outcomes available to disciplinary decision-makers.

The result:

More confidence to speak up, and a greater understanding of the importance of considering the impact on bystanders as well as the complainants.
